Stuck with no idea what to do in this Quarantine? Fed off scrolling your social media feed?
So here we have this interesting article for you, to give your quarantine time some sense of direction.
As we know that due to the Covid-19 breakdown we all are going through a lock down which is actually necessary today and therefore we cannot ignore that.
This has lead us to stay at home with ample time for all the stuff that we wanted to do but could never start.
But in spite of wanting to do a lot of things we all are getting bored majorly because being trapped is kind of sucks and so our motivation level sinks down, also most of the things are required to be done outside and that is not an option right now.
Here we have a list of 10 things that you can do to use your free time more productively and will get you rid of the boredom that you are dealing with, make sure you don't miss the 4th 7tb and 8th idea, also there is a BONUS IDEA at the end of the blog.
1. Read books
Fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi, your course books- today is the perfect time to read everything you always wanted to but never could!
Read novels, increase your literature skills, read books which will increase your knowledge or maybe just simple short storybooks.
This will be really beneficial as it will increase your reading efficiency, vocabulary, speaking skills and knowledge.
Reading never goes in vain. In this advancing world, we are losing an important skill, time to get back to it!
Here are a few books we would recommend you to read:
The Da Vinci Code (or any book of Dan Brown)
Kafka on the Shore (or any other book of Murakami)
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Great Gatsby
Everything is Fucked
Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck
How to Win Friends and Influence People
Order of Time
I am a Strange Loop
Manual of Living
A Brief History of Time
Rich Dad Poor Dad.
I know, I know, most of you don’t have much interest in writing, but I think considering these times, the lock down and the pandemic, we are at a very crucial time, which will be a very important part of our history in the coming future. So, I suggest you write a diary at least and chances are that they will make a movie after reading it a hundred or thousand years from now.
Try writing anything- be it a poem, quote, shayari, short story, just go ahead and give it a try!
Those who have never tried can also start by maintaining a diary of their quarantine days. In this way, you can preserve these interesting memories.
Or you can learn Content Writing for free by writing blogs like these for Gear Infinity under their guidance.
Well, it may sound boring and exhausting but according to a known fact, Newton developed his major theories during a lockdown period! Major parts of calculus and optics. So why can not you do or at least try to do some revolutionary discovery, think about it?
It's also the best time to develop your interest in studies that you could never before.
So a basic need of living is cooking and in such a period when most of the restaurants are also closed, we get to know about its importance. So if you’re also missing your favorite gravy momos, why don’t just try and cook it yourself.
“Tere andar ka Masterchef phatt k bahar aane de”
Hence, be it a girl or a boy doesn't matter, just learn how to cook basic stuff and your favorite dishes so that in future you are capable to live alone without any problem of home-cooked meals that almost every hostler crave for.
You have enough time and resources for this right now, just give it a try!
5. Online courses
Since there is a lot of time to invest in learning new skills but also no stepping outside is required, hence the best solution for that are those courses which are taught online. In this way along with learning a new skill, you also get a professional certificate which can be really useful in your future and will open doors to new opportunities. DM us at @gear_infinity for some free courses.
6. Yoga and meditation
Many people are finding it hard to stay indoors all day. A refreshing thing to do in this period is Yoga and meditation. Even if you have never done it still you can start, in this way, you will fulfill your physical needs and also stabilize your mind in a world where media is always trying to create panic. By doing this you will be healthier- physically and mentally, strong and fresh.
Just search on YouTube and you will get access to a dozen videos of guided and unguided meditation, but you should be extremely cautious as wrong postures can lead to many problems.
7. Rekindle your love for family
Being at home also serves you with a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your family. And one of the simplest things that we all can do is to talk. Talk with your family as in this age along with the work pressure and growing technology we are somewhat drifting apart from our families. Have a conversation, healthy debate, talk about political matters or some funny stuff.
You can also spend your time with your family, playing some interesting board games. It really helps in reducing tension and tackles boredom properly. In this way, one can rebuild those lost bonds and feel that love because in the end and in such pandemics we all just have our families by our side.
8. Watch Documentaries
Right now we all are spending most of the time by watching series, movies and TV shows. So along with that, the most beneficial thing would be to watch documentaries, they are one of the most interesting ways of gaining knowledge about a particular thing. Also, there are a lot of brilliant documentaries on all of the streaming platforms which you can look forward to.
Here’s a list of documentaries that are as interesting as informative they are:
Seven Worlds, One Planet
8 Days: to the Moon and Back
The Act of Killing
Art and Craft
Jim: The James Foley Story
9. Introspection and Planning
For how long have you not got time for yourself? Today is the right time and the right opportunity to do all that thinking process, to change your mindset, to plan all the things for your present and future. Think creatively, plan your projects, your interests, your ideas, list everything. Introspection is the key for personal development, for the development of your thinking and your abilities. Do not let this time go in vain.
10. Rediscover your interests and hobbies
Be it painting, sketching, handcrafts, calligraphy, singing, dancing or anything else, it is the perfect opportunity for you to rediscover your interests and hobbies. We usually do not get much time for all that but right now we are lucky enough to have such privilege so take out some time for enjoying as well by doing all those things you love and which make you feel yourself.
Bonus Idea: Star Gazing
Here is something I am doing regularly these days, after having my dinner I go to my terrace to look at the stars while listening a podcast of some soothing songs on Spotify.
All the rough wounds of the day start to heal and you feel the light of those stars filling your soul with glitter. Whether you enjoy this activity or not, is still highly subjective.
Here's a playlist by Astik Bhatnagar which is extremely beautiful. Enjoy your Quarantine!
